Freshman Clusters :
Secondary color palette

UCLA blue and gold are always a good choice for a UCLA publication. But sometimes an innovative program like Freshman Clusters needs a more extensive palette, something fresh and a little offbeat.

That's when the secondary palette of the graphic identity system comes into play. Bright Design has identified a set of colors that harmonize with UCLA blue and gold - and avoids the reds that are associated with our Pac 10 rivals. There are bright colors, shown here on the Freshman Clusters brochure, as well as darker colors.

Freshman Clusters is also an example of the UCLA logo used on a relatively small scale. The name of the program dominates the brochure cover - but the UCLA Undergraduate Education signature still has good visibility. That's because it's surrounded by white space and artfully aligned to the page's underlying grid.

Thanks to art director Susan Landesmann and program director Greg Kendrick.
