The Designer Behind the New UCLA Graphic Identity

UCLA’s design partner in developing our new graphic identity was Keith Bright Strategic Design. Keith Bright himself was deeply involved in the process. And Bright is no stranger to UCLA: he’s an alumnus.

Bright’s previous work for UCLA has included cover designs for the Extension Catalog, which has become a showcase for contemporary graphic designers. AIGA, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, devoted an entire gallery show to “Masters of Graphic Design: Catalog Covers of UCLA Extension.” Three Bright covers were included.

Identity projects by Bright Strategic design have included Mandalay Pictures, National car rental, NetZero, Ryder trucks, Los Angeles Visitors and Convention Bureau. Bright’s honors include Lifetime Achievement Award, AIGA; Gold Medal, Art Directors Club of New York; Gold Medal, Art Directors Club of Los Angeles.

His work is on permanent display at the Smithsonian Institution and has appeared in Communication Art, Graphis, Idea, Industrial Design, and Print magazines, as well as publications from other countries, including Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Australia.
